Counselling in Nelson

Kia ora, I’m Meseret Olsen, I am a qualified counsellor (BCouns) and a provisional member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors. I am based in Nelson offering a supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life.

People often seek counselling when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, grieving, or navigating significant life changes. These experiences can feel heavy to carry alone. Counselling provides a space where you can pause, reflect and begin to make sense of what you are going through with the support of someone who is there to listen and understand.

My work is grounded in empathy, respect and genuine connection. I work alongside you at your own pace, helping you explore thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences that may be affecting your wellbeing. Together we focus on what matters most to you and what may help you move forward.

I offer counselling to explore your feelings and experiences, that may include stress, anxiety, grief, emotional overwhelm, relationship or parenting challenges. Our sessions can support you in gaining greater clarity, strengthening your self understanding and reconnecting with your own resilience.  Cultural identity may shape who you are and how you form relationships and connections. I aim to honour, respect and learn more about your culture and how it may be included as part of the process.

If you are thinking about starting counselling, the first step can simply be a conversation with me. I offer a free 15-minute introductory phone call so we can connect and see if working together feels right for you.
