About me
A grounded, caring space where you can feel seen and supported
Kia ora, I’m Meseret.
I’m a counsellor who believes that meaningful change often begins when people feel genuinely understood. My role is to walk alongside you as you explore the experiences, emotions and questions that have brought you to counselling.
Many of the people I work with are navigating grief, anxiety, big life transitions, or feelings that have become difficult to understand or manage on their own. These moments in life can feel confusing or isolating, but they can also be opportunities to better understand ourselves and what we need.
My approach to counselling is collaborative and guided by you. We shape our sessions together, focusing on what feels most helpful and manageable for you. I draw from a range of therapeutic perspectives and adapt the approach to suit your needs, moving at your pace and in your way of making sense of things.
In our sessions we may explore emotional patterns, relationships or experiences that have shaped how you feel over time and how you respond to the world today. At times we may also pay attention to how emotions show up in the body through breath, tension or physical responses. Sometimes putting feelings into a visual is also helpful for people to understand and separate themselves from a feeling. Other times, the session may simply be a space to talk through whatever feels important for you that day.
I am committed to honouring each person’s cultural identity, lived experiences and the relationships and whānau that shape who they are. I am a qualified counsellor with a Bachelor of Counselling, and I am a provisional member of New Zealand Association of Counsellors.
My hope is that counselling becomes a place where you feel supported to explore your emotions, gain insight and reconnect with your own sense of strength and possibility.
